Patient profiles & history

2 min read

The patient profile is your single view of one person: their key details at the top, an AI summary, and a unified History timeline that gathers everything on file — appointments, communications, and clinical notes — in one chronological stream. You reach it from the Patients list by selecting View next to any name.

Patient details

The top of the page shows the patient's full name. Just below it, you'll see any details on file for them:

  • DOB — date of birth
  • Sex
  • Email
  • Phone

Only fields that have a value appear, so a patient with no email or phone on file simply won't show those items. These details come from when the patient was added or imported, so the profile always reflects what's on the record.

Tip: Use the ← Back to Patients link at the top left to return to the full patient list at any time.

The AI summary

Below the details, Rebrief shows an AI-written summary of the patient, refreshed from their record whenever you open the page. It's a quick way to get oriented — but it's a convenience, not a substitute for the chart, so always confirm anything important against the underlying notes.

The History timeline

The History timeline is the heart of the profile: one chronological list, newest first, of everything recorded for this patient. Entries come from three places and sit together in the same stream:

  • Appointments — visits imported from your practice management system, booked by voice, or charted in Rebrief.
  • Communications — messages and call activity on file.
  • Clinical notes — notes attached to the patient.

Filter chips across the top let you narrow the stream to Appointments, Communications, Clinical, or Other, or show All. Upcoming appointments group at the top; everything else runs in date order below. Notes your practice software attaches to a visit appear inside that appointment's row rather than as a separate list.

Each entry shows its date, a short label for what it is, and — for appointments — a status such as active or completed, along with the notation and probing protocol used to chart it.

Note: A caption on the timeline tells you which practice management system the imported data came from and the window it covers, so you know how complete the history is. If it looks out of date, use the sync control to refresh it.

Opening an entry

Appointments you charted in Rebrief are clickable — select one to reopen its clinical note, odontogram, and charting. Imported notes don't have a separate page to open; a long note simply expands in place so you can read the full text.

Start a new appointment

To begin charting for this patient, select + New Appointment in the top right. Rebrief creates the appointment and takes you straight into it so you can start working.

Note: If your account isn't yet linked to a clinic, + New Appointment will show a short message asking you to finish setup first. Once onboarding is complete, the button works normally.
