Glossary

A quick reference for the words you'll see across Rebrief, from the live appointment screen to your clinic settings. Terms are listed alphabetically.

A

Admin

A clinic team member with extra permissions. Admins can manage clinic-wide settings, invite or remove team members, and view reporting that other staff can't. Some screens only appear when you're signed in as an admin.

Ambient scribe

Rebrief's listening feature. During an appointment it transcribes what's said in the room and turns the conversation into a structured clinical note and a live chart, so you can stay focused on the patient instead of typing.

Appointment

One patient visit captured in Rebrief, from the moment you start recording to the finished note. An appointment ties together the transcript, the odontogram, the perio chart, and the resulting document (found on the Documents page).

Assistant

The built-in chat helper. Type a question into the search bar at the top of the app and the Assistant answers in plain language, drawing on your clinic's own patients, appointments, and notes. Past conversations are kept as threads you can reopen. Asking new questions needs the Rebrief Bridge running; older threads stay viewable in an ordinary browser.

B

Bridge

The Rebrief Bridge is a small companion app that runs on the clinic computer next to your practice management software. It's what lets Rebrief read from and write to your local system. Some features, such as the Assistant and live schedule reads, only run when the Bridge is present.

C

Clinic

Your practice's workspace in Rebrief. All your patients, appointments, documents, templates, and team members live inside your clinic, and they stay separate from every other clinic on the platform.

Clinical note

The written record of an appointment, drafted from the ambient scribe transcript. You review and edit it before it's finalized. The finished note is the document you'll find on the Documents page.

D

Document

A saved clinical note for a specific patient and appointment. The Documents page lists your notes with the patient name, date, and a short preview, and you can search and filter them.

F

FDI notation

A two-digit way of numbering teeth (for example, 11 or 46), where the first digit is the quadrant and the second is the tooth within it. It's the international standard. See also Notation.

N

Notation

The system used to number teeth on the chart. Rebrief supports both FDI (two-digit, international) and Universal (1 through 32, common in the US). You can work in whichever you prefer, and Rebrief converts between them behind the scenes.

O

Odontogram

The visual tooth chart. It shows every tooth and the findings or treatment recorded for it during the appointment. As you and the patient talk, the ambient scribe updates the odontogram in real time.

P

Perio chart

The periodontal chart, where gum-health measurements such as recession, mobility, and furcation are recorded tooth by tooth alongside the odontogram.

PMS

Practice management software, the program your clinic already uses to manage patients, schedules, and charts (such as Open Dental). Rebrief works alongside your PMS rather than replacing it.

R

Receptionist

The AI receptionist that answers after-hours and overflow phone calls for your clinic. From the Receptionist page you can turn it on or off, set its greeting, list bookable providers, and refresh the live appointment availability it quotes to callers.

S

Sync

Refreshing information between Rebrief and your practice management software through the Bridge, such as pulling your live schedule so the receptionist can quote real open slots. You can trigger a sync manually or schedule it to run automatically each day.

T

Template

A reusable starting structure for clinical notes. Your clinic can keep its own templates alongside Rebrief's defaults, so notes follow a consistent format every time.

U

Universal notation

A way of numbering teeth from 1 to 32 in a single sequence, common in the US. See also Notation and FDI notation.
