Known Issues, Workarounds, and Best Practices

Best Practices for Optimal Results

Rebrief is designed to work naturally in real clinical environments. You do not need to change how you speak or conduct appointments. When in doubt, remember: if a skilled dental assistant would understand you, Rebrief will too. That said, a few simple best practices can significantly improve accuracy and consistency—especially in structured charting scenarios.

Verbalization Best Practices

You can speak normally throughout the encounter. Rebrief is built to handle conversational speech, interruptions, and natural dialogue.

That said, for best results, we recommend verbalizing the patient’s name and the appointment type at least once, either before or during the appointment. For instance, “today I’m seeing John Smith for a routine recall exam.” This does not need to be repeated frequently—once is sufficient.

Periodontal Charting Best Practices

For periodontal charting, clarity and structure matter more than conversational flow.

To ensure accurate perio charting, clinicians should explicitly state:

1. What is being measured (e.g., probing depths, recession, bleeding)

2. Where they are starting (tooth number and surface)

This allows Rebrief to correctly interpret the sequence and assign values to the proper sites. For instance: “measuring probing depths, starting from distobuccal of 17.” From there, you can proceed naturally through the arch as you normally would.

    Why this helps

    • Prevents site misalignment
    • Improves confidence in generated perio charts
    • Reduces the need for manual correction
